With 15 fights on the main card and 14 others on the undercard, it would seem that matchmaker Mike Carbajal would have had a near impossible time filling the event. Surprisingly, he said that he had no problems.
“Actually this card came together easier than most,” said Carbajal. “I don’t know if it was the time of the year, or the fact that we can offer all of our fighters a ton of perks, but putting this show together went smoothly.”
According to Carbajal, Saturday’s huge show will not only offer fans the chance to spend an entire night watching combat sports, but also personify the increasing popularity of the sport within Wisconsin.
“There are a number of reasons this show is so big,” said Carbajal. “Basically, we are bringing all types of fans to the arena. There will be MMA, cage grappling, kickboxing, and even youth MMA. This event exemplifies the evolution of the sport.”
Earlier this year, Roufus and Joffe announced the creation and development of the United States Fighting Championship. With the creation of the USFC, the Wisconsin Fighting Championship was designated as the duo’s home for top amateur battles.
Saturday’s “Super Brawl” event will feature 13 amateur MMA fights, 7 youth MMA bouts, 3 kickboxing matches, and 6 grappling contests. Of the 13 MMA battles, two will be for amateur titles.
Emmanuel “Pitbull” Sanchez will meet Jason “The Black Mamba” Norman in the lightweight division, and Jonathan Meins will face off against “Johnny Boy” Haasch for the bantamweight belt. While both fights should be entertaining, many local fans are buzzing about two of the card’s grappling matches.
Eric “Red” Schafer and Anthony “Showtime” Pettis will both return to action in the home state over the weekend. Schafer will meet David DeLao Sr. for the WFC Caged Grappling 265 pound championship, and Pettis will take on Ed “Earth Quake” Blake for the 170 pound belt.
“I am so excited to see Red and Pettis grapple,” said Carbajal. “It’s been too long since I’ve seen either of them back here in Wisconsin. I can’t wait.”
In something that is becoming a norm for the Wisconsin Fighting Championship, Saturday’s event will feature an amazing amount of fights for a reasonable price.
“You know, these shows are more for the casual fan,” said Carbajal. “Some people just getting into the sport can’t fathom paying over $100 to watch a fight. This weekend’s event is much cheaper than others in the area, and it showcases a ton of great fights.”
Cageside seats for “Super Brawl” can be purchased for $60, while floor seats are going for $25. The main card is pegged to begin at 7:30 p.m. with the undercard starting three hours earlier. The show will be held at the Wisconsin State Fair Park.

To say that Duke Roufus and Scott Joffe like to pack their Wisconsin Fighting Championship events would be an understatement; on Saturday, the organization returns to the Wisconsin State Fair Park with nearly 30 bouts on the card.
