With a huge number of the state’s most respected and feared combatants, promoter Adam Sandoval has put together an extremely impressive list that mixes savvy veterans with rising youngsters. Each weight class should provide dream matchups.
As well as announcing the rosters of the tournament, Combat USA has bestowed the honor of selecting one middleweight and one light heavyweight to compete in the competition. Before looking at the remaining spots, let us unveil Combat USA’s impressive list of participants.
Bantamweights
While Thao may be favored heading into the tournament, it will be interesting to see how the two potential “WCS Rookies of the Year” Floyd Hodges and Chico Camus fare. The bantamweight division has all the makings of an unpredictable and extremely entertaining tournament.
Featherweights
The 145 pound division is loaded with current and former champions from all over the state. Shaumberg and Sickinger will both make returns after lengthy layoffs, which will undoubtedly please Brian Learn, who called out Sickinger at the recent CCC “Christmas in the Cage”.
A tournament victory form Learn, Sickinger, Schaumberg, or Blake could potentially move either fighter to the top of the featherweight rankings.
Welterweight
Of all of the divisions, the welterweight may be the most hotly contested. While Kuester and Faas have experience at 170, the other competitors are less proven. Nelson recently overtook Morrison Lamb for the CCC welterweight championship, whle Rook and Mittnacht have been staples in other weight classes.
While the welterweight bracket may not contain as many household names as the others, it should help shake out the rankings, and allow the lesser known fighters to acquaint themselves with the state.
Middleweight Explosion
To say the least, the middleweight division is absolutely phenomenal. Two top ranked fighters from other weight classes, Sam Alvey and Gerald Meerschaert, will take their abilities to the middleweight ranks. On top of that, not one, but both of the Chosen Few Owners will try their best to take home the $12,000.00 prize.
An examination and break down of this division could go on for hours. So we’ll leave that to another day.
Light Heavyweights
The light heavyweight division has more than its share of big names. While Decorah has an insane amount of experience, youngsters Dicke and O’Malley have a wonderful opportunity to burst onto the light heavyweight scene. A possible matchup between Nelson and Lemke would prove to be one of the hardest hitting fights of the entire tournament.
Two Remaining Spots
Finalizing the final middleweight and light heavyweight rests entirely upon your shoulders. Let us know who you would like to see fill out these already stacked brackets.
If these fighters are interested in joining the competition, here is the list that WCS is most anxious to see.

... Looks like an awesome list. I bet it was tough choosing. I'd have to vote for Kleczkowski and Rob Smith. Would go with Reese if it sounded like he was more interested, but Smith needs that paycheck if he's retiring! |

... My vote is for Kleczkowski, lets add 1 more number 1 ranked fighter to the division! and I wanna see Van der Veen in action he may not be as well known... yet, but he's always game. |

... Guys, we only entered 1 person from our team to fight in the tournament. Do not want team mates to fight each other. As well, the fighter we choose for each weight class is the one who is at the gym the most & putting the most work in. Good luck to everyone! |

... Dave Kleczkowsi – With Wins over Faircloth and O'Malley it would set up a nice Revenge angle to those fights Rob would be awesome if his heart is in it! Adam's always exiting and fun to watch and would likely make for good TV |

... Thanks Rob. Due to weighing closer to 240 then 205 I wouldn't be fight ready for two months. Plus Demian is in the tournament and I would not fight him. I thought there was a heavy weight tournament?? Oh well, I'm not even sure if I could put in all the time necessary for a tournament this long anyway. |

... I'm interested to see what's gonna happen if Omalley and Faircloth make it to the finals and have to fight eachother since they've always said they'd never fight. |

... Im pretty sure that for the money they will gladly go beat the piss out of each other. I am sure they resolved that before they even tried out, considering they are probably the two favorites in the bracket. |

... I'd like someone to show me where Faircloth and I said we wouldn't fight one another. Quite the contray we've always stated for the money we'd pound the piss outta one another. We do it every day in practice - why not get paid for it for a change? Ronny and I are friends and have been through a lot together. Over the past 12 years we have worked together, ran several businesses together and run a gym together. Believe me when I tell you if our friendship survived that it'll survive a 25 minute bout in a cage. |

... my vote is in for Reese and the Light Heavyweight spot !! He fights Heavy now, but he came from 205 and can make that again easily. Always fun to watch him fight and he always brings it. Bring on the OLD MAN !!! |

... Sometimes I believe my wife lives vicariously through my opponents. Like when they hit me she seems to get a little excited. Ever notice that? I'm going to have to check my life insurance and see what it cashes out at! I think for 12k I could make 206, 205 might be pushing it though. I do have a prior commitment in March that I'm very excited about. Still love my wife even though she keeps putting me in a cage. |

... I vote for Dave Kleczkowsi. One of my favorite fights ever was against him. I got into this tournament because I thought he would be in for sure. I'm also going with Adam Van der Veen. I will not uppercase the D in der, but I am part of his female following. I'm pre-op and he's good looking. I look forward to the chance to have a fight with Pat where money is the outcome not make-up sex. So I'm all in if that happens. |

... Fair enough Pat, I eat my words. I was always told you two would never fight, but in that case, Bring it On! LOL. And Reese, I'm with Mary on this one, but it's got nothing to do with seeing you get locked in a cage and get punched in the face(well maybe a little), it's seeing you win. Everybody loves watching you beat the piss outta people. |
