The potential featherweight battle would feature a pair of fighters who both train in Wisconsin. The Milwaukee native Massouh trains out of Dave Strasser’s Freestyle Academy, while the Iowan Koch has put in time at the Duke Roufus Academy.
Massouh, who is 21-6 according to Sherdog, has won five of his last seven fights. Unfortunately, the two losses have come in his last two fights, both within the WEC. While he admittedly was not himself in his first WEC appearance in April, Massouh looked strong in an August matchup with Leonard Garcia.
However, when all was said and done Garcia was awarded with a split decision victory. A strong December showing will be imperative for Massouh.
Koch, his probable opponent, was scheduled to face Wagnney Fabiano at WEC 44. In an interview with WCS that never aired, Koch was extremely confident in his ability to pull off the upset. At WEC 44, the biggest surprise of the night occurred when Fabiano was submitted in the first round.
Unfortunately for Koch, Mackens Semerzier was the one to shock the world. In the days leading up to the fight, Koch was forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury. In December, he will have the chance to make his WEC debut against Massouh.
Be sure to check back within the next few weeks as WCS will interview both fighters about the upcoming matchup as soon it is made official.

... This is the type of fight Jameel should have entered the WEC with. I felt he beat Garcia too.But let the guy get his feet wet first!!! His first to opponents are ranked in the top 10 in the world on the majority of the rankings out there. |
