img_1513800x600A large, crazy-loud audience was in attendance for Combat USA XXV.  The event took place behind "The Dungeon" training center in a large tent.  It seemed as though the whole city of Peshtigo turned out to support their fighters.

The main events of the evening both featured fighters from "Dungeon".  Matt "Diesel" Shaffer took on Chris Skoglund from Team Skoglund, while Jason "The Real Deal" Gignac battled against Darnell Williams out of Team Davis.  Fighters from "The Dungeon" were featured in every fight on the card.

The Co-Main Events:

The final fight of the evening was a professional Featherweight bout pitting Gignac against Williams.  Gignac connected with a straight right to start the fight off, but Williams was having none of it and quickly took Gignac to the mat.  Gignac got back to his feet almost right away and tried for a guillotine while pulling to guard.  After a quick scramble the fighters were up.  Gignac hurt Williams with a barage of punches and flying kicks, Williams didn't have much choice but to ball up and protect himself.  After some unanswered shots the ref was forced to step in and stop the fight.  Gignac chalked up another win with an impressive TKO in round 1 over Williams.

In the other Main Event of the evening Shaffer displaced the very game Skoglund.  The two fighters met in the middle of the ring to start the fight and had a brief exchange standing.  The fight went to the mat, and then back to the feet before Shaffer was able to take Skoglund to the ground and get the fighters back.  Once on the mat "Diesel" quickly moved to full mount and unleashed some heavy blows to his opponents face.  After giving Skoglund warnings and time to defend himself, the ref was forced to step in and stop the fight in Round 1.

With victories by both "Dungeon" fighters in the Main Events the home crowd was absolutely crazy with excitement, and they showed that Peshtigo is full of MMA fans.

WCS Knockout of the Night:

The Knockout of the Night has to go to Tony Mandeela, who knocked out his opponent Dustin Johnson with a head kick.  Mandeela came out ready to fight and didn't touch gloves much to the annoyance of Johnson; but after an apology by Mandeela (who geniunely seemed caught up in the excitement and just forgot) the fight was on.  It only took :20 seconds for Mandeela to connect with a right kick to Johnsons head putting the fighter out on his way to the mat.

WCS Submission of the Night:

There were several submissions throughout the night, but the WCS Submission of the night has to go to Scott "Iron Man" Hubert for his rear naked choke victory over Jason Tibbs.  The fighters came out ready to fight; they met in the middle of the cage and exchanged both punches and knees.  Hubert pushed Tibbs into the cage and took Tibbs down.  Once on the mat it didn't take long for "Iron Man" to transition to Tibb's back and sink in (very quickly) the choke that made Tibbs tapout.

WCS Fight of the Night:

The Main Events of the night were fun fights to watch, but the fight of the night goes to Brian Utke and Dustin Kopesky for their two round battle.  Utke came out in round 1 and took Kopesky to the mat and very nearly finished the fight with a rear naked choke.  Kopesky defended the choke well and finished the round in Utkes guard inflicting some ground and pound.

At the start of the second round Utke again took Kopesky down; both fighters went for a series of submissions in what was a very impressive display of submission offense and defense.  Towards the later part of the round Kopesky managed to trip Utke and landed in the mount.  At that point it was academic, and the ref was forced to stop the fight due to strikes, giving the victory to Kopesky by TKO.

Outstanding!!!
I've been to a lot of shows as a fighter and coach and not being bias that it was our own show, but this was by far the best event I have ever been to! It was loud in that tent and the energy was out of this world! A big thank you to Adam, Dave, Ryan, Darrick, and everyone that did the other jobs behind the scenes to make the show great!

Thank You

i had alot of fun was great to see a local event like this. Main events were fun to watch also. i was a little dissapointed in 1 fighter. there was a ton of buzz going around about Dale Bennett at 135 pounds about how tough he is. what happened to him?? He came out with a powerfull takedown and slam to the mat and then just fell apart. hopefully he stays with the sport! best of luck to all the fighters in the future and hopefully the dungeon puts on a second show

Jamie,
Dale is a great up-an-coming fighter. I am exited to announce we will be seeing a lot of him in the future. You have to remember that his opponent, Dylan is an extremely talented fighter who saw an opening and applied a great submission. I would also like to thank you for your support.

probably the happiest person about my fight was Dylan Copesky, because i am tough and i am a good fighter and he should be happy he won. just ask my last 2 opponents, on had ribs bruised so bad he had a hard time breathing for a week, and the other had an egg on his head the size of a golf ball. Sometimes fighters just dont bring there best game and i brought my worst one. i appologize for not performing to everyone and yes it was dissapointing. i wont post excuses even tho i do have some. and as far as the arm bar went, it didnt hurt me at all but yes he did have it executed well and i didnt feel like jerking off with my left arm for the next month.

first off im not glad for anybody. second off thats crap that it didnt hurt because i have film of the fight and not only did he tap once but twice. and every guy knows if it dont hurt than why tap. third off how can there be that much hype about a 1-1 guy. ive been there done that, im not the best but if he has to wack it yet then maybe he shouldnt be fighting as he is now 1-2 with two working arms to wack it with. let me know when you are ready and we can do it again.

dale... quit boasting about a fight you lost - tryin to make apples out of oranges... you lost cuz you didn't train hard enough or properly for that matter. Don't try to make excuses. Take your loss with a grain of salt and let it be what it is. Who cares what you did to your last opponents.... Nobody gives a sh*t. Your fight record, your humility and your arrogant attitude have proven enough. Be a better fighter and put your money where your mouth is.

Dc i was only making a funny joke like i said it was a good arm bar! i am not an arrogant person at all, and most people from peshtigo dont know me well yet because it is hard for me to get up there during the week and train, but thankfully we have a gym in green bay too! and if your reading this and from Green Bay come check it out. i do have alot to learn in this sport and thankfully the dungeon instructors have welcomed me with open arms. Jason cares about teaching his fighters so much its awesome, and i hope to learn a lot from him. Everyone else there is great too, Ryan, Darrick, Josh, its a big list. These guys put alot of heart into this show and i'm happy it went well for them...

You guys should have just stopped talking after Jason's comment. There's no reason to make excuses or talk shit. It was a good takedown and a good submission. Shit happens. and anyone who knows anything about submissions knows that arm bars don't hurt till somethings broken. Any intelligent fighter knows when to tap.

She is exactly right! and if anyone knows Dale he is not arrogant at all and he is definetly not a whiner. but he does have an interesting way of putting things. He broke his nose about 5 days before this event and didnt even think about withdrawing. when he was in high school he was one of the most fun wrestlers to watch and one of the most pleasant to be around. best of luck Dale good buddy and to the rest of the peshtigo guys. I cant wait to go to another event i had so much fun!
