Warfield improves his record to 14-3 and the big leagues of MMA better take notice. His 55 second knockout of Ted Worthington (Des Moines MMA) Saturday night was reminiscent of when Vitor Belfort knocked out Matt Lindland at Affliction 2. Worthington was knocked out on his feet and Warfield was able to land a few shots in before the referee could stop the fight. Worthington laid lifeless on the mat for several minutes before coming to and asking "What happened?" Warfield wins the vacant 155 pound title with the devastating knockout. With 13 of his 14 wins coming via knockout, his heavy hands and quick first round knockouts make him look like a compact Houston Alexander. He's definitely a fighter to keep your eye on. In the night's main event, Mark Honneger (Central Illinois Combat Club) beat Rob Smith (Rufousport) in a 5 round snoozer to retain his 205 pound title. Honneger avoided Smith's judo throws and threw in an occasional inside knee and/or footstomp to outpoint Smith. Flanked in his corner by UFC fighters Eric Schafer and Pat Berry, Rob "Cinderella Man" Smith had no answer to Honneger's controlling clinchwork. Smith almost pulled out a submission win in the fifth with a tight kimura, but Honneger was able to escape and control the fight for the win. The other title fight featured Kenny Robertson (Central Illinois Combat Club) and Gerald Meerschaert (Strasser's Freestyle Academy). Robertson's submission skills were on display once again as he made Meerschaert tap out to what looked like a kneebar but could've been a number of things. Even the ring announcer didn't know what it was as it was ruled a "technical submission." Robertson improves to 4-0 with three submissions to his credit, including and armbar victory over former Green Bay Packer, Wisper Goodman. In the night's featured amateur bout, Sara Bussey (Bulldog Fight Team) took on Christina Domke (Unified Martial Arts) in Madtown Throwdown's first female fight. The fight was one-sided for the most part as Domke repeatedly took Bussey down and delivered some ground and pound. It was eventually stopped in the third round after Bussey took too many punches from the mount. Domke improves to 5-0 with the win. Pat O'Malley praised the fight after the event and said we'd be seeing more female fights in the future. Speaking of Pat O'Malley, he has a fight coming up on Saturday, May 16, versus Dave Kleczkowski. He made an appearance in the ring and had something to say about the upcoming fight with Kleczkowski. "I'm going to knock him the (expletive) out in the first round." Time will tell if that happens, but the lines are drawn and we all know O'Malley will bring everything he's got. Other noteable victories included Matt Hirsch via decision, Tony Scofield via RNC, and Tony Rook via RNC. Other sighting at the event included WEC fighter Jameel Massouh and Brian Geraghty who were working as judges. Dave Strasser, Ron Faircloth, Sergio Gomez and the aforementioned Eric Schafer and Pat Berry were all in attendance. Landon from the Real World also watched the fights from a nearby table.

... Great night of fights - thanks to all the fans and competitors. Bob - you know you always have a home on the Madtown Throwdown. Your guys always show up - ready to fight. Congrats to your team and thanks for always being a go to guy. As for Warfield, what can I say his hands haven't? He called it right before he went out - told me that's how he was gonna do it. Big props to Worthington, he made to no bones about jumping in the ring and fighting. Warfield showed anyone that was watching what he can do to at 155. Again a great night of fights - thanks to all. |

... Bob is correct, why are so many people hating on the Illinois fighters? Mark Honegger has been a great champ at Madtown Throwdown. He has held the belt for over a year and has fought everyone that has been put in front of him. Mark loves fighting at Madtown and I would just like to see him get more respect from everyone. BTW - how did everyone like Kenny Robertson's title fight? Who would have thought that two Illinoians would hold belts at Madtown Throwdown. It's a beautiful thing! |

... What is Mark Honegger's background in wrestling? Because so far he has put on wrestling clinics in his last few fights against good wrestlers. As for the fight I didn't think it was a "snoozer" like the article said but I thought it was a pretty technical grappling match and I enjoyed it. Props to Mark though that dude is a stud. |

... Jeremy, No one is hating on IL fighters. Kenny Robertson looked awesome and i would love to see him fight again. However Mark wrestled for 25 minutes. Thats just plain boring to watch. Maybe an easier way to put it is like this... I'm sure you saw andreson silvas last fight. he is a great fighter but did you enjoy watching it...i'm guessing not. same situation. |

... gswahhab Was it Anderson Silvas fault his fight was bad?Mark didn't get into the ring in any of his fights and run, avoid contact or just lay on his back.Mark fights smart he knew he had the Rob Smith fight won after the 3rd round(although im not sure what one of the judges was watching)but he continued to engage and fight even got caught in A close submission attempt in the final round. He could of threw jabs and stayed outside in the last two rounds but he trained hard to finish the five rounds strong and he did. When Mark was taken down or was on the bottom he got back up or reversed the position. Why not call Rob Smith boring for just laying on the bottom or not stopping the clinch and take downs? What about Aron Toll was he bad in both fights because he couldn't stop the take downs or get off the bottom? Now before I get accused of bad mouthing Rob or Aron I have nothing but respect for both I'm just asking why Its always blamed on Mark? Why isn't wicombatsports saying I wish our fighters would of been more active? Why didn't our fighters get up off the bottom and push the action? |

... A win is a win is a win!!!!!! Honegger is the champ until someone takes it from him He is a very smart and strategic fighter. Calling him boring is an insult. If you or your camp doesnt like watching him fight, then beat him. Bob and his crew are more a part of Wisconsin MMA then most realize. Every, and I mean every fighter he brings comes to fight and to win. Bob, I, as well as many of us appreciate you and your school and its many well rounded fighters. All promoters who have worked with Bob will back me when I say, we couldnt have run shows without you!!! My god this Warfield! 155 watch out, this man hits hard. I pity the chin that meets that right hand. As far as Robertson's sub. It was a mix of a kneebar with a little banana split and a dash of what the f**k. The correct name of it will have to come from Gerald when we ask him what hurt! Great show and cant wait for the next one! |

... Kenny has many surprises in his game he is just looking for someplace to showcase them!Just refer to that submission as the Robertson. It will rip your hamstring if applied and held on for to long.Everything Kenny does hurts working out with him is not fun(It has raised Marks and everyone else in the gyms game)and we are looking for sparring partners if anyone is going to be in our area. |

... Joe McD, whoever the f**k you are, for one get it right, I was in jail not once not twice but three times, never for beating a woman, but since you are so concerned to as why, it was for possesion of a firearm, battery, and then possesion of a firearm by a felon, battery to an inmate, and third was the most recent in 2005 for battery to an officer, and to their dog. I tell you this because this is the old me and that was the past. So let me help you out since you don't know what the f**k you are talking about, and you want to be a journalist. If you wanted the facts I would have told you. Or you could have asked my one and only wife, and she would have told you the same. Are you the average Joe, because you sound like a bitter female I used to date wishing we were still together. And to Derek V, are you serious????????? Punch yourself in the face because arent you the guy who just lost to Jeremy Hemrich, not to say he is a bad fighter, but come on man are you for real. How about I thumb wrestle with you that way you can keep your pulse. But I can't believe I am wasting my time even writing this, but next time you try and slander my name atleast get all the facts about the shit I did in the past right, and I have NEVER been to jail for beating a woman. The closest I will ever get to beating a female is you. What is your cup size a 34A, and what is your real name. |

Madtown Throwdown 19 had about everything you want in an MMA event. Quick knockouts, a wide array of submissions, three title fights, and one budding superstar. James Warfield (Chosen Few) showed the world why he is one of the brightest young fighters on the Wisconsin MMA scene. With one punch, he brought the Throwdown crowd into a frenzy. "He'll knockout anyone at 155," trainer Pat O'Malley belted after the chaos in the ring settled.
