Jan. 12, MADISON, WI -- Fight fans turned out in force Madtown Throwdown 14: Unfinished Business, and its feature of three title bouts at Alliant Energy Center on Friday night. {mosimage} The final bout of the night saw Jesse "Candy Hands" Veium take on challenger Todd Brown. Each man sought to control the fight, Veium with his takedowns and Brown by letting the punches and kicks fly. When the fight started to spill out of the ring, Brown launched an illegal stomp that connected with Veium's face, forcing the referee to call for an intermission. A visibly upset Pat O'Malley demanded that the fight continue, and the champ was granted five minutes to recover, whereas a point was deducted from Brown's score. Ultimatley, Veium was not able to continue, resulting in a "no contest." Stay tuned for a full results report

... I was dissapointed in the fight Brown should have seen they were way out of the ring. I see it as a cheap shot. I do not respect him as a fighter. |

The stomp I dont think it was a melicious kick. I do believe it was an accident in the heat of battle. It happens, we now can hope for the rematch. |

... Anyone who has been a fan of the FCC or Madtown Throwdown the past how many years knows that the rules allowed stomps. The past 2 throwdowns I cornered at, Pat CLEARLY stated in the back that stomps to the head are not allowed. Now with that said, when a fighter is in the ring his instinct sometimes takes over and things tend to happen. Hopefully Jesse and Todd have the match to settle this controversy, but all in all it was a great fight and a great Throwdown. |

... It won't be long before the sport is regulated here in Wisconsin and Vale Tudo is gone and the unified rules are installed. If your a fan of stomps and soccer kicks, enjoy them while they last. |
